Do you know the story of Chang'e and Hou Yi? There are many variations of their story. My favorite interpretation of their story is one of the happier endings.
After drinking a potion of immortality, the most beautiful of the land, Chang'e transcends to the moon and becomes the Goddess of the Moon, but sadly causes her to also leave her husband Hou Yi. With only Jade rabbit to keep her company, Chang'e awaits for her Hou Yi on the Moon. Once a year, Hou Yi and Chang'e are allowed to reunite on the day that is known to us as the Mid-Autumn Festival. Hou Yi would make Chang'e her favorite dessert, the Moon cake, every year. It was filled with his love that missed her every single day they are apart. Today we have moon cakes for the mid-Autumn festival as a reminder that true love is sweet and worth waiting for. ❤🧡💛💚💙💜
